HBC  Needs Your Tech Manuals

HamBone College aka HBC needs to solicit the help of any Technician or General Class license holder that may have a current issue of the ARRL Technician License manual on hand that would like to help out our Girl Scout Teaching Team and any other group that seeks to use the DBARA HBC teaching structure.

If you have a manual and would like to let HBC have it to use for those less fortunate that you use it to study with please contact the undersigned, John LoCicero K4TUG, or any HBC Instructor or DBARA Board member.

HamBone College Continues to be Successful

by Frank N. Haas, KB4T

Friends:

DBARA's HamBone College Amateur Radio License Prep classes have helped more than a dozen people get licensed or upgrade their tickets over the last 2 years. I'm pleased to announce that two more grads of our training program have successfully joined the ranks of Licensed Amateur Radio Operators.

Please join me in congratulating Robert Schwartz of Daytona Beach and Stephaney George of New Smyrna Beach on their recent ascent to the ranks of Technician Class hams.

Robert is KJ4FBN and has already begun to build his collection of radios with an Icom T90a tri-band handheld and some accessories. Robert has been active lately on a pair of local 2 meter repeaters. Robert is the son of longtime DBARA member Bill Schwartz WS1C (formerly WA4JCP.)

Stephaney is 11 years old and the daughter of Mike George KG2U who returned to the ranks of active hams during the last year or so after a long stint away building his successful business. Stephaney is awaiting her new callsign. During her training Stephaney has been mastering the use of Dad's Yaesu multi-band handheld. I'm not sure if Dad is going to invest in a new toy for himself or Stephaney but I predict a new radio is in the George family's future!

Listen for Robert and Stephaney on the local frequencies. If you hear either of them, please take a moment to warmly welcome them to Ham Radio. I believe both will be at this Monday's club meeting as well so be sure to seek out both of them and congratulate them on their fine achievements!

73,

A Full Class is on the books for the Extra Class
by Bill Schwartz WS1C

As of the 10th of June all the available seats in the upcoming Extra Class License Class are gone, filled up, vanished due to the excitement of having a Schwartz Class on getting your Extra Class license.

Bill Schwartz notified the HBC Chairperson on the eve of the 9th of June that every seat in the classroom has a live body sitting in it as of then.

Who said, "ham radio is dead?"
