AwardsAny amateur radio club worthy of its title should have an annual awards program. How else are you going to be able to reward or recognize its outstanding amateur radio operators for doing positive actions or service to their community. If you know of a ham radio operator that is or has done something outstanding that should be recognized for their action or service. You can get this club member rewarded by simply downloading and filling out the DBARA Award Form and submitting it to the Award Committee which is an additional duty for the Board of Directors and Elected Officers. Photographs to support the action would be a great assistance but are not necessary. Examples: Joe Squirrel, K4NUT, is always putting up antennas for other less fortunate hams. Snuffy Smith, K4RAT, was first on the scene of a horrific vehicle accident, calling for rescue and treating the injured squirrel while awaiting the arrival of the Humane Society ambulance. DBARA typically honors its worthy hams with these awards:Ham of the Year: DBARA member or other deserving ham whose extraordinary service, involvement or contributions furthered the hobby in the eyes of the public and/or the Ham Radio community. Public Service Recognition: Awarded to DBARA Members whose Ham Radio activity made an extraordinary contribution to Public Service or the betterment of the community. Certificate of Merit: Awarded to DBARA Members whose extraordinary service, involvement or contributions to DBARA warrant recognition. Special Recognition Award: Awarded to DBARA Members who performed an act of of rendering assistance to a person, event, incident, or special event that warrants special recognition. You can suggest new Award ideas: If you feel that
someone has done a significant event that is not covered by our existing award
criteria then by all means contact one of the club officers and make them aware
of it. Last update: 30-Jul-2010 |
