The following message was written by Paul Eakin, KG4J, the Section Manager-Elect of Northern Florida (who begins his term of office on July 1, 2008).

This letter has been sent in cooperation with Rudy Hubbard, WA4PUP, Northern Florida Section Manager.

Greetings from the newly elected NFL Section Manager

Paul L. Eakin, KJ4G

To assume office July 1st, 2008

I would like to thank all the ARRL members for taking the time to cast their vote in the recent election for the Northern Florida Section Manager position. I congratulate Carl, AA4MI and Dale, W4NBF, two worthy opponents in this election. Both have offered any assistance I may ask for. As I traveled through the section, it became very apparent that there is a vast pool of talent that can be used to move the Section forward. I intend to use these resources.

I want to thank Rudy, WA4PUP, for his 18 years of service to the hams of Northern Florida. I had just moved to Tallahassee about that time and met George, W4MLE. I have watched him and then Rudy get the section up to where it is now. There are some very important issues that were settled in the Capital thru Rudy which we enjoy today. I hope to follow in his footsteps and move the section further up the ladder. I wish him and his wife well in their new future.

According to the rules and by-laws, the first order of business is the assignment of staff positions. Because there is no incumbent SM, all assigned positions will expire the last day of June, 2008. In order to have the section properly manned, I'm asking all appointments now in effect to submit a resume/application if they would like to continue their service to the section in the following term. These folks gave of their time to make the section operate and did a good job. Some may want to move on, change jobs, or retire.

In the resume, please state what your job is, what you accomplished and where you want to go in the following term. Also include three (3) references, ARRL classes, ICS courses and how long you have been a "Ham" radio operator. To all ARRL members who may have a desire to serve. You may be qualified to hold a position and are welcome to apply giving your qualifications and state your desires. Please use the above format. There is a need for folks who have PIO experience, news or radio/TV skills. Please consider assisting the Section Organization.

Please have these documents to KJ4G@arrl.net by June 8th, 2008.

In the very near future, an application will be posted to use for joining ARES. This form will be the latest updated information on each ARES member. We need to get the data base set up in case of need for the SM, SEC, and DECs. Once in operation, updating will be easy to maintain and accurate.

In the next letter, there will be info concerning the FL EOC and news from John, WD4FFX.

I thank you all again and look forward to serving you.

73,

Paul, KJ4G

Newly elected NFL SM, starting July 1st, 2008
